It's been busy busy here in the land of procrastination. I don't always adapt to change well (i love my routines!) so anything different than the norm leaves me in a flurry of half finished lists and half finished projects. But really, it's the procrastination thing... I just always think there is way more time than there really is. Or is that I underestimate how much time things take?
The baby sweater for work is coming along beautifully. I should be done by next week. But ooops! the baby shower was today. I like the lace work, but it really slowed me down. I was up til 2am working on it so it got to a point where it actually looks like a sweater & then I wrapped it with strict instructions in the card to give it back so I could finish it.
Tomorrow morning I'll be up early (4am!) to make my early flight so I can fly to Charlotte, N.C. to layover & then fly to Detroit. The states I'll fly to in order to save a hundred dollars or two. Bonus though, I get frequent flier miles for my trouble.
I'm going to Detroit for my grandfather's 95 birthday. He's a tough old guy whose seen a lot of changes since he was born in 1910. A couple grandpa tidbits for you, just because.
Granpa's first bike ride - A neighbor was the first in the area to get a bike and offered to let my grandfather ride it. It was one of those old fashioned ones with the huge front wheel. He climbed from their high front porch onto the bike and rode home to show his family. Once he got home, he couldn't get off the bike because if he did, he didn't know how he'd climb back on. So he just rode the bike back to the owners. Seriously though, that is a huge design flaw. I'm glad that they fixed that on the new models.
G-pa has always been particular about his appearance and even now he drives my mother crazy saying he can't find a barber that does a decent job. Which is pretty amazing for a couple of reasons...
1 - that at 95 he stills has enough hair to cut
2 - that he can still see well enough to tell. Although this point might be debatable.
Here's my favorite recent pic of him (although it's about 18 months old). Every year my brother buys him a big bottle of whiskey for Christmas. Not the good stuff, he prefers this brand. It's the biggest bottle ever! And plastic which oddly reminds me of mouthwash.
So this weekend the entire clan is gathering to raise a glass to this man who started us all. Without him I wouldn't be here or have my cool double jointed thumb. Thanks grandpa!
Cute picture of Grandpa. It does sort of remind me of mouthwash, probably kills all the germs in your mouth too with all that alcohol. Enjoy your trip :)

That's so great that you're going in for grandpa - and that he's 95!
I love that picture of him with the mouthwash bottle (I can't believe it's plastic!) full of Early Times. That's classic.

So, how old was your brother when he first started buying whisky for Gramps?
